Finished Untitled Mystery draft

Finished Untitled Mystery draft

Lee Gabel

I can safely say that I have finished my first draft on my latest book, a mystery with a dash of paranormal thrown in. I say paranormal tentatively because I'm not sure exactly how to categorize it. I blew past my initial guesstimate of 90,000 words and finished at 111,000 words.

I write quite leanly, so I doubt that number will change much, unless I have to rework things. I find out that next. I get the pleasure of rereading my story with the ability to change it as I go, if needed. Have you ever wanted to do that with a book you've read? It's a privilege I do not take lightly.

I find this to be the best of both worlds. I get to spend my day reading, with an option to (re)write sections if I want or if I feel it's warranted for clarity. I should have the manuscript to my editor by (or hopefully before) the first day of Spring (or Fall, depending on where you live).
In addition, this book, my eleventh, represents crossing one million published words. It's hard to believe.

I can safely say this book will be published before the first day of Summer (or Winter.) Stay tuned!
